Blue Bell licking location identified as Lufkin Walmart

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — There has been a major break in the Blue Bell ice cream licker case.
Lufkin police say they believe they have identified the woman seen in the video licking a half-gallon of “Tin Roof” Blue Bell ice cream in a store and putting it back on a shelf.
Police say the video was posted to social media June 28, which led to an investigation that focused on Walmart stores in San Antonio and Houston. That investigation eventually led police to Lufkin.
Social media commenters had noted the woman in the video was from San Antonio. Police in San Antonio believed it may have been one of the local Walmart stores, but none of the display cases were similar to the one seen in the video.
The investigation moved onto Houston Walmart stores when police learned she may be living with a boyfriend in that area. Again, that yielded no results.
Blue Bell corporate officials instructed all of its division managers Wednesday morning to see if they could figure out where the licking may have occurred.
Within an hour, police say a Lufkin division manager said he believed it was a Lufkin Walmart.
Blue Bell contacted Lufkin police Wednesday afternoon with the new information. They say they believe they have retrieved the tampered container of ice cream.
Police have obtained surveillance video showing a woman matching the description of the woman on the social media video. That video suggests the licking occurred at around 11:00 p.m. on that date.
Lufkin police are still investigating, but believe they have identified the woman.
