Boerne Fire Leaves One Dead, 2 Injured

by Elizabeth Ruiz

A stubborn blaze in Boerne has claimed the life of a woman and seriously injured two other people.

Kendall County Fire Marshal Jeff Fincke says a mobile home on Bluebonnet Drive near IH 10 was fully engulfed in flames when the first crew arrived around 3 this morning.

“Two occupants were able to get out,” Fincke told KTSA News. A woman died in the fire. A man and his granddaughter were taken to San Antonio Military Medical Center.

The investigation continues into the cause of the fire, but it appears to be accidental.

“The owner says he believes there may have been something wrong with his fireplace, possibly a log rolled out of it. He said when he woke up, most of the fire was in the living room in front of the fireplace,” said Fincke.
