Border Groups Watching GOP Convention

The Texas Border Coalition still thinks the wall is not the way to go, despite what Donald Trump says.

“No one cares more about border security more than those of us who live on the border, raise our families on the border, and work on the border,” Monica Weisberg-Stewart told KTSA News. “Our major concerns and differences lie on how do you go about accomplishing those goals.”

For one, she said, a wall is not the answer.

“People are going over it, under it, around it, and through it…and for the amount of money it’s going to cost to do, there are more efficient ways to do this,” she said.

She said it’s time for less soundbites and time for real solutions.

“If you talk to those of us on the border, we can help you come up with some real solutions that will probably be more cost effective than giving up the false sense of security to the rest of the country,” she said.
