Boy drowns in Guadalupe River in Seguin while swimming with church group

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — A 12-year-old boy has drowned while on a swimming trip with a group of boys from his church.

Officials in Seguin say the boys were staying in a vacation rental in the 400 block of River Road near the Guadalupe River.

They went swimming just before 10 a.m. Monday and at some point, one of the boys went under the water and never resurfaced.

The Seguin Fire Department, Game Wardens, the Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office and the Austin based Star Flight all responded to the scene.

It was a dive team from New Braunfels that recovered the boy’s body just after 1 p.m. Monday.

His name has not been released and the investigation continues.
