SAN ANTONIO (Texas News Radio) — Not only is everything bigger in Texas, but it is better — and cleaner.

That’s the case for Buc-ee’s in the latest survey of top-rated gas station restrooms in the nation, according to GasBuddy.

The site used its own ratings and reviews data to determine which chains performed best on a state-by-state basis.  Overall, this site said restrooms have become cleaner year-over-year.

Buc-ee’s was only the best in one state — Texas, the only state they primarily operate in.  The chain just opened its first location outside of Texas in Alabama recently.

Utah-based Maverik earned the top spot in the most states — seven — primarily in the Rockies.

Pennsylvania-based Wawa and Oklahoma-based QuikTrip — which has been on an expansion spree in San Antonio — were tied for second with being the best in six states.

“The reputation of gas station restrooms has cleaned up significantly in the past three years, with brands making concentrated efforts to make their facilities sparkle” says Frank Beard, convenience store and retail trends analyst at GasBuddy. “In fact, companies like Maverik and Sinclair respectively doubled and tripled their share of states with the top-rated restrooms in the span of a year, further proving the competition is overflowing at gas station restrooms nationwide.”

Despite not having the sprawl of some of the other chains, Buc-ee’s had the highest-rated gas station restrooms in the nation.
