SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — A water main break will be negatively impacting the Wednesday afternoon commute home.

The southbound lanes of Broadway are expected to be closed through much of the commute.

San Antonio’s Transportation and Capital Improvements department told KTSA News SAWS crews were working on Broadway near Brooklyn earlier in the day and in the process of getting that work completed, a cast iron pipe broke causing water to cover Broadway.

The department said the valve has been repaired, but more work still needs to be done before crews can leave the scene.

Two northbound lanes are open to traffic, however the southbound lanes will continue to be closed for an undetermined amount of time.
