Carjacking Leads to Chase, Deadly Crash

By Bill O’Neil

A carjacking on the Westside leads to a chase–and ends with a deadly crash early Friday Morning along Loop 410.

“The vehicle was emitting lojack signals which were picked up somewhere along Highway 90” San Antonio Police Chief William McManus said.

That’s where officers began following the stolen car, which was on the Loop 410 access road near Summit Parkway when the driver made a move that cost him his life.

“He jumped the median strip here… entered the freeway… where he was struck by the white pickup” McManus said.

That crash ended the chase.

“The driver (of the stolen car) was killed in the crash. The three other individuals (passengers in the stolen car) were not seriously injured” McManus said.

Two people in the pickup that hit the stolen car also suffered minor injuries, and are expected to be ok.
