Castro, Doggett Show Support for Obamacare

Congressmen Joaquin Castro and Lloyd Doggett are holding an event Saturday supporting the Affordable Care Act.

Another deadline for health coverage is quickly approaching, Doggett said.

“Still opportunity for many of our neighbors to get signed up under the Affordable Care Act,” Doggett told KTSA News.

But there’s some obvious confusion about the healthcare law with all the recent repeal talk in Washington D.C.

“Anyone who lacks insurance or who has not re-enrolled with insurance needs to take this opportunity to do so,” he said.

Doggett said they’ll even talk about what’s happening at the federal level and why it’s important that any replacement to the Affordable Care Act provides more and better coverage.

“Well, if you listen to what President Trump says that he wants insurance for everyone, that’s encouraging, unfortunately, some of his underlings don’t seem that enthusiastic about that concept,” he said.

He expects this battle to last a few months.

The event Saturday is at the Daughters of Charity Services on Somerset Road starting at 2 PM Saturday.
