SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) – Celebrate SA, the city’s official New Year’s Eve event, is going virtual this year.

It will feature the music and dance group Mélange, as well as culinary and cocktail segments.

You’ll also have a front row seat for the fireworks show, which will start with the 2021 numbers in the sky.

“We are honored to be included in the annual traditions that set our city apart as one of community pride with compassion, respect, and the drive to be the best,” said Ken Kuwamura, Chairman of the Board of the San Antonio Parks Foundation.

This year’s event will air on News 4 San Antonio starting at 10 pm Dec. 31.  It will end with a virtual fireworks show at midnight.

“We look forward to gathering again downtown next year when we can toast together and delight in the sparkle and fun with friends.”said Mary Jane Verette, CEO and President of the San Antonio Parks Foundation.

As COVID-19 cases continue to rise, Mayor Ron Nirenberg is discouraging large gatherings during the holidays.

“There’s not going to be a fireworks show as we have enjoyed in years past, so we are discouraging gatherings,” said Nirenberg.  “All of the restrictions that are currently in place are going to be in place for the New Year’s Eve celebration.”
