SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office is now releasing the name of an 8-year-old girl killed in a car crash on Thursday night.

Nicole Marae Vidales was killed when the driver of the SUV she was in lost control of the vehicle and was later charged with intoxication manslaughter. The name of the woman driving at the time has not been released, but San Antonio police confirm the investigation centers around possible drunk driving.

The SUV crashed in the 200 block of North General McMullin near West Commerce Street.

Investigators say the woman lost control when the SUV hit a curb and then went up on a sidewalk. From there the vehicle hit a fire hydrant, another SUV and then came to a stop after crashing into a telephone pole.

Vidales was pronounced dead at the scene.

KSAT-TV originally reported that five other people, including three children, were taken to the hospital with serious injuries, but their status is not known at this time.
