Cold case dating back to 1979 gets break, man found dead identified
SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — The Medina County Sheriff’s Office is announcing a break in a cold case close to 45 year sold.
In a Tuesday release, the agency announced positive identification of a man found dead off Red Wing Road, now known as County Road 371, in Castroville on November 26, 1979.
Gary Alan Robbins was born in Chicago, Illinois on July 25, 1946. His identity had remained a mystery until new advances in DNA analysis allowed scientists to identify him.
As the decades-old case now warms up, MCSO is asking anyone with information about Robbins, or the case surrounding his death, to come forward. The investigator handling the case Sergeant Alfonso R. Oranday, and his contact information is below.
