Coleman New Braunfels plant to close, 150 employees will be laid off

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — More than 150 jobs will be lost when a business in New Braunfels closes this year.

Coleman, the camping gear company, says it will close its plant on FM 306 in New Braunfels after 40 years in operation.

According to the company, the 150 employees will be laid off in phases between now and December. 47 in August with another 55 losing their jobs by October. The remaining employees will be laid off in December.

The announcement about the closure was made to employees Wednesday.

The plant will end production in October and consolidate its operations to a plant in Wichita, Kansas.

Coleman and the New Braunfels Chamber of Commerce are working to help employees find new jobs.
