Commissioners OK JBSA-Randolph Area Land Buy Plan

Bexar County will be looking to purchase some land around Randolph Air Force Base.

Commissioners have given a green light for the purchases–the bulk of the money for which will come from a State grant.

“The purpose of this initiative is really to assist JBSA (Joint Base San Antonio) and Randolph by helping resolve some of the current and potentially future encroachment issues” Bexar County Public Works Director Renee Green told Commissioners ahead of the vote.

“We will assist Randolph in protecting it’s mission by acquiring existing or future encroachments” Green said.

Those purchases are expected to take place over the next year.

“This is another example of where this community has really stepped up to help and assist our military presence” Commissioner Kevin Wolff said.
