SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) – Congressman Henry Cuellar has announced more than $10 million in grants from the Department of Housing and Urban Development are coming to San Antonio and Bexar County.

Nine-point-four-million dollars from the Continuum of Care program will be awarded to organizations that help homeless individuals and families.

The rest of the federal funds will go to the Housing Authority of Bexar County and the San Antonio Housing Authority. Cuellar says some of that money will be used for vouchers to help low-income families, the elderly and disabled afford “decent, safe and sanitary housing.”  The rest will go to the Family Self-Sufficiency program, which helps families become financially independent.
