Conservatives on Castro Brothers Backing Nirenberg

An event for Ron Nirenberg for mayor that both Julian and Joaquin Castro will be attending this weekend is closed to the public.

“All in for Ron” is actually a private fundraising event taking place Sunday in Southtown.

Does the political backing surprise conservatives? 550 KTSA asked conservative blogger/writer George Rodriguez.

“They have views that are very, very liberal and similar so it doesn’t surprise me at all,” Rodriguez said. He believes the Castro brothers are going to try to sway the Hispanic vote for Nirenberg, but mentions that he hasn’t seen the Hispanic vote that unified this time around.

Former city of San Antonio councilman Carlton Soules believes both Nirenberg and Ivy Taylor need to focus on getting the conservative north side vote in order to win the election next month.
