Councilman Coy On Possible Run For Mayor

Is he running for mayor?

For now, Ron Nirenberg is still playing coy.

“There’s been a lot of discussion and speculation about the future of our city and what role I’ll play in it and I hope to answer a lot of those questions on Saturday,” Nirenberg said Wednesday.

An Express-News article reported Nirenberg was running, but he’s not said anything publicly.

“I know we have a campaign season coming up, I want to explain what I’ll be doing over the next six months and what my hopes for the city are,” he said.

He’ll do that Saturday morning (9:30AM, 1001 Broadway) when he makes a special announcement.

He wants citizens to play a greater role in city government.

“They deserve that and they deserve a city that does well by them and for them,” he said.
