SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — 43-years after releasing his first hit single, George Strait is still setting records.

He already has more number 1 country records than anybody, in fact, more number 1 records in any genre, but now he holds the concert attendance record.

Saturday night, King George stepped onto a revolving stage in the middle of Kyle Field at Texas A&M in College Station.

The number of paid attendees? 110,905.

That number breaks a record set by the Grateful Dead at a show in New Jersey in 1977.

Strait even outdrew the Aggies football team.

The attendance record for a home game at Kyle Field was a game against Ole Miss in 2014. 110,663 fans attended that game.

Strait’s previous attendance record was set in 2014 when 104,793 packed his show at AT&T Stadium in Arlington.
