Criminal Alien of the Week Report September, 26 2024
Here is an extended excerpt from USAODC’s August 21, 2024 news release on Oswaldo Lozada-Solis, Jesus Daniel Lara Del Toro, Jean Franco Torres-Roman and Edwuimar Nazareth Colina-Romero:
“DENVER – The United States Attorney for the District of Colorado announces that Oswaldo Lozada-Solis, 23, Jesus Daniel Lara Del Toro, 20, Jean Franco Torres-Roman, 21, and Edwuimar Nazareth Colina-Romero, 18, all Venezuelan nationals, were indicted by a federal grand jury this week on charges related to the armed robbery of a Denver-area jewelry store.
According to the indictment, on the afternoon of June 24, the suspects entered the Joyeria El Ruby Jewelry Store on West 38th Avenue in Denver. During the robbery, suspects pointed weapons at employees, struck several employees with their weapons, and took a large amount of gold and jewelry. The suspects were later located in the El Paso, Texas area.
Lozada-Solis, Del Toro, and Torres-Roman are charged with armed robbery and brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence. Colina-Romero is charged with transporting stolen goods and possession of stolen goods.
The defendants made their initial appearances in Denver on August 20 and 21 in front of Magistrate Judge James P. O’Hara.
The charges contained in the indictment are allegations and the defendants are presumed innocent of the charges unless and until proven guilty.
The case is being investigated by Homeland Security Investigations Denver, the Denver Police Department, the FBI Denver Field Division, FBI El Paso Field Division, Homeland Security Investigations El Paso, Department, and West Texas Anti-Gang Center. Two days later, on August 23, 2023 U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) issued a news release titled “HSI Denver Investigation Leads to Indictments of 4 People Related to Robbery of Jewelry Store” that did not identify Oswaldo Lozada-Solis, Jesus Daniel Lara Del Toro, Jean Franco Torres-Roman and Edwuimar Nazareth Colina-Romero’s nationality.
Seeking detailed information on the historical immigration status of Oswaldo Lozada-Solis, Jesus Daniel Lara Del Toro, Jean Franco Torres-Roman and Edwuimar Nazareth Colina-Romero the “Criminal Alien of the Week Report” contacted on August 28th, September 6th and September 17, 2024 via e-mail U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Public Affairs at a national (Washington, D.C.) regional level (Denver, CO) requesting investigations and statements on these individuals to answer the following questions:
Are Oswaldo Lozada-Solis, Jesus Daniel Lara Del Toro, Jean Franco Torres-Roman and Edwuimar Nazareth Colina-Romero currently illegally present in the United States?
How many times if any has Oswaldo Lozada-Solis, Jesus Daniel Lara Del Toro, Jean Franco Torres-Roman and Edwuimar Nazareth Colina-Romero been previously removed from the country by ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) or U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP)?
Can ICE Public Affairs’ confirm if Oswaldo Lozada-Solis, Jesus Daniel Lara Del Toro, Jean Franco Torres-Roman and Edwuimar Nazareth Colina-Romero’s country of origin is actually Venezuela?
Are or in the past have Oswaldo Lozada-Solis, Jesus Daniel Lara Del Toro, Jean Franco Torres-Roman and Edwuimar Nazareth Colina-Romero been in the custody of an ICE detention center?
As of Wednesday, September 25, 2024 ICE Public Affairs has not responded to the “Criminal Alien of the Week Report” request for statements on the historical immigration status of Oswaldo Lozada-Solis, Jesus Daniel Lara Del Toro, Jean Franco Torres-Roman and Edwuimar Nazareth Colina-Romero.
Pre-trial, on September 25, 2024 Oswaldo Lozada-Solis (BOP Register Number: 27515-511), age 23, was incarcerated by the U.S. Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) at Englewood FCI located in Littleton, Colorado.
Jean Franco Torres-Roman on September 25, 2024 was in the custody of the Teller County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) incarcerated at the Teller County Detentions Facility (TCDF) located in Cripple Creek, Colorado.
Edwuimar Nazareth Colina-Romero on September 25, 2024 was in the custody of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) incarcerated at the Jefferson County Detentions Facility (JCDF) located in Golden, Colorado.
Information on the pre-trial location of Jesus Daniel Lara Del Toro as to if he is currently in custody and incarcerated at a location in the state of Colorado was unavailable.
The consequences of possible future federal convictions for robbery or other crimes in U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado for Venezuelan nationals Oswaldo Lozada-Solis, Jesus Daniel Lara Del Toro, Jean Franco Torres-Roman and Edwuimar Nazareth Colina-Romero could be them joining more than 23-thousand criminal aliens in the U.S. Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) prison system.
