Dallas police now say no suspensions yet over online posts

DALLAS (AP) — Police commanders in Dallas now say that no officers at this point have been placed on administrative leave for offensive social media posts that authorities previously said violated the department’s code of conduct.
Executive Assistant Police Chief David Pughes told The Dallas Morning News on Thursday that investigators are seeking explanations from four officers whose posts were “egregious.”
Police Chief U. Renee Hall said last week that the four had already been suspended .
Hall also said 25 officers were being investigated for online postings but authorities now say the number is 34.
The action comes after The Plain View Project last month released a database cataloging thousands of bigoted or violent posts by police officers in several states.
More than 1,000 public posts from people identified as current and former Dallas officers were flagged by researchers with the project.
