Deputy Rescues Woman, Baby From Flood

Some tense moments for a woman and her baby after their SUV was swept off a flooded Southwest Side Road and into the rain-swollen Medina River.

Bexar County Sheriff’s Deputy Jason Jarvis–who lives near the scene heard the call rushed to help. When he got to scene off of Cagnon Road, the SUV was in the river.

“The woman was holding onto trees and branches with her child and this off-duty deputy rescued her,” said Roseanne Hughes with the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office.

The woman and her 1-year-old child were treated on the scene by emergency personnel.

“She was transported to a local hospital and they’re okay,” said Hughes.
