Downed power line slows firefighters responding to call on San Antonio’s East side

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — No injuries reported from the scene of an early morning fire but a family and their pets are looking for a new place to live.

San Antonio firefighters were called to the 2100 block of Hays Street at around 4:30 A.M. Tuesday.

Flames were shooting from the building when crews arrived. They couldn’t attack the fire right away as a power line had fallen onto a pickup parked in the driveway.

Once CPS Energy shut the power off, firefighters were able to knock the fire out quickly but the home has significant damage.

Two people, 5 dogs and 2 cats living in the home all got out safely.

Investigators are looking for the cause.
