SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — The Texas Department of Safety is confirming the death of seven people in a head-on crash in Comal County.

Investigators say one person described as a young child survived, but their status is not known at this time.

The crash happened Sunday when the driver of a Ford pickup truck veered into the opposite lane and hit a Chrysler SUV near Buffalo Springs Crossing.

KSAT-TV reports the driver and a passenger in the pickup were killed.

Five people, including two kids, riding in the SUV were also killed.

According to dispatch audio, one of the vehicles was one fire shortly after the collision.

The names of those killed have not been released.
