Edgewood ISD Police: Kennedy High School placed on lockdown after weapon found on campus Wednesday
SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) – A San Antonio high school was placed on lockdown Wednesday after a weapon was found on campus.
Edgewood ISD officials say they were told a student at John F Kennedy High School had a weapon.
After placing the campus on lockdown, as well as the nearby Brentwood STEAM School of Innovation, district police officers were able to find the weapon, and the student who brought it to campus.
Once the weapon was secured, the lockdown was lifted.
The district issued the following statement:
“The safety and security of students, staff and faculty is the top priority for Edgewood ISD. It is a responsibility we do not take lightly. Today, Kennedy High School was placed under lockdown as a precaution, following a report of a weapon on campus. Edgewood ISD Police officers responded quickly, conducted a search and located the weapon. Officers took the student responsible for the weapon into custody. The lockdown was lifted once the campus was deemed safe.”
Officials did not say what type of weapon was involved.
