SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — A space heater is being blamed for a fire fire that claimed the life of a North Side resident.
The call came in from the 1000 block of West Summit Avenue at around 7:30 A.M. Tuesday.
Before firefighters arrived, a woman living in the home tried to get her sleeping husband out of the house, but she could not get to him and he died before first responders could attempt a rescue.
Crews were met with an aggressive fire that they had to get under control before the husband’s body could be reached in a bedroom upstairs.
Investigators were able to trace the cause of the fire to a space heater on the first floor.
