SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — Apparently politics…. and football…. makes strange bedfellows.

Viewers tuning in to the Dallas Cowboys- Green Bay Packers game on Sunday saw a couple of unlikely friends enjoying the game and some people aren’t too happy about it.

Talk Show Host Ellen DeGeneres and former President George W. Bush were spotted sitting together and sharing some laughs during the game.

She caught some Twitter flack about being seen with “W” and mentioned the criticisms on her show Tuesday.

DeGeneres said people thought, “Why is this gay Hollywood liberal sitting next to a conservative Republican president?”

The host admits she and Bush are friends and in fact, she’s friends with a lot of other people who don’t share her beliefs.

“We’re all different and I think we’ve forgotten that’s it’s okay that we’re all different.”

DeGeneres told her audience that when she says be kind to one another she means everyone, not “only people who think the same way you do.”

After tackling the Tweets criticizing her friendship with the former President, Ellen mentioned one that she appreciated. It read:

“Ellen and George Bush together makes me have faith in America again.”
