SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) – Lime is taking its e-scooters out of San Antonio and 11 other markets, citing low ridership and low profitability.

“While the vast majority of our 120+ markets have adopted micromobility transportation solutions quickly and are profitable, there are select communities throughout the world where micromobility has evolved more slowly,” read a statement on the website.

Lime also is pulling it’s scooters out of Atlanta, Phoenix, San Diego and Linz in Austria. It’s also closing shop in Bogotá, Buenos Aires, Montevideo, Lima, Puerto Vallarta, Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo in Latin America.

“We are immensely grateful for the partnerships we’ve enjoyed with each one of these cities and the continued support from our riders, and we remain hopeful we can reintroduce Lime back into these communities when the time is right.”

Lime and two other companies were awarded contracts by the
San Antonio City Council last month, effective Jan. 12.
