Experts: Damage Claims Expected to Climb

State Farm expects hail and wind damage insurance claims will increase after storms rolled through parts of South Texas.

Assessment teams are on the ground in hard hit areas already, State Farm said, but this type of damage happens quite a bit here.

“Texas ranked number one in 2015 in hail claims and in wind claims,” State Farm’s Chris Pilcic said.

In 2015, Texas residents filed more than 52,000 hail damage claims. It was almost twice as many as Georgia, the state that ranked second.

“But Texas really sees a wide variety of types of weather,” he said. “So hail, tornado, even lightning…in 2014, the state had the third most lightning strike claims of any.”

Pilcic said if you suffer damage, call your insurance company right away.
