Extended unemployment benefits in Texas to end in September

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — Extended unemployment benefits for Texans are going to end soon.

The word coming from Texas Workforce Commission.

They say since the state’s unemployment rate has fallen below the six-point-five-percent threshold needed to continue the extension, they’ve been informed by the Department of Labor that the benefit will end next month.

Normally the state will provide 26 weeks of benefits.

However, that period can be lengthened during times of high unemployment like the pandemic.

The extended benefits will end on September 11th.
