Father gets 15 years in prison after baby girl severely burned

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — The father of a 1-year-old child found with severe burns all over her body will spend more than a decade in prison with no chance of probation.

Dustin Lawrence pled guilty to multiple charges after investigators found that the child had been doused with scalding water in November 2023. Lawrence and his wife were accused of injecting the girl with methamphetamine and failing to get proper medical care for their daughter.

Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar said after the drugs were injected, the baby’s skin started peeling off.

Four other children were living with Lawrence and his wife, Amanda Mann, in an RV at the time the child was burned. Each were handed over to Child Protective Services after the investigation got started.

The couple was charged with child endangerment, endangering a child risking bodily injury, and injury to a child resulting in serious bodily injury, among others.

Lawrence received a 15-year sentence for Injury to a Child Causing Serious Bodily Injury by Omission and another two years for Endangering a Child. The sentences will run concurrently.
