Fire at Lone Star Brewery called “suspicious” by city Fire Chief

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — A fire at Lone Star brewery over the weekend is being called suspicious” by the city’s Fire Chief.

Chief Charles Hood says they were called to the building at 600 Lone Star Boulevard late Saturday night.

Crews found flames had burned through the roof of the 6 story structure when they arrived.

They called in backup in order to keep the fire from spreading to nearby buildings.

Hood says 40 units were sent to help fight the flames.

Once it was extinguished, investigators entered the heavily damaged building and found signs that it was being used by some homeless people.

Hood says the fire probably began when the homeless started a small warming fire.

A dollar amount for the damage hasn’t been released and the investigation continues.
