Fire damages San Antonio convenience store and chicken restaurant

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — Two businesses on San Antonio’s East side were heavily damaged by a fire early Monday morning.

Crews were called to the Arena Food Mart building on East Commerce at around 2 A.M.

The building houses a convenience store plus a chicken restaurant and when firefighters arrived they saw smoke and flames coming from the building.

They were facing several obstacles in the effort to put the fire out including the security materials covering the doors and windows.

Once they were inside, they were able to knock down the flames but some flare ups happened throughout the morning.

No injuries were reported and the cause is being investigated.
