Fire destroys vacant home on San Antonio’s West Side

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — Quick work by San Antonio firefighters kept flames from spreading through a West Side neighborhood.

It happened just after 8 p.m. Wednesday at the corner of West Laurel and North Colorado.

Crews could see flames tearing through what appeared to be a vacant home and threatening a neighboring business.

They began work to keep the fire from spreading, but at some point a power line fell, making their job even more dangerous.

But they were able to knock down the flames before they could damage the neighboring building.

The structure is a total loss and will have to be torn down.

There were no injuries reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
