First Buc-ee’s travel center in Luling destroyed by fire, cause still under investigation

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — There was a lot of panic  Monday when word went out Monday that the Buc-ee’s in Luling was on fire.

The concern was that the long awaited 75,000 square foot travel center that has been open for less than a month was up in smoke.

Turns out, it was the much smaller original 2003 building that was in flames.

The call came in at around 10 a.m. from I-10 and 183.

Crews rushed to the scene to find smoke and flames pouring out of the building.

The structure was being demolished now that the new Buc-ee’s, located right next door, opened in early June.

The damaged building was the very first Buc-ee’s travel center. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

No injuries were reported.
