Former Bexar County Sheriff’s Deputy arrested for assaulting inmate

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — A former Bexar County Sheriff’s Office Detention Deputy has been arrested on assault charges.

26 year old Raynell Ishman was taken into custody at around 9:30 Wednesday night.

The charges against him are from an incident that happened in September of 2017.  That’s when Ishman assaulted a Bexar County Jail inmate.

Even though he was fired shortly after assault as a probationary termination, Sheriff Javier Salazar apparently didn’t feel firing him was enough.

He says accountability goes further than simply being terminated.

“I applaud the hard work of the BCSO Public Integrity Unit for their work in investigating this case and making this arrest.”

Ishman has been charged with Assault Bodily Injury which is a  Class A Misdemeanor
