SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) – A former Bexar County Sheriff’s Office Detention Deputy has been arrested on a charge of official oppression.

Twenty-six-year-old Taryn Armitage is accused of assaulting an inmate at the Bexar County jail by using excessive force in November of 2017. The case was forwarded to the Bexar County District Attorney’s office for further investigation.

Armitage resigned from the Bexar County Sheriff’s office in August of this year  while under investigation.  He was arrested Wednesday after being indicted by a Bexar County Grand Jury for official oppression.

“The law applies to everyone equally,” said Sheriff Salazar. “If someone under the color of their office, assaults an inmate in our custody it will be investigated thoroughly and dealt with accordingly.”
