SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — There is now a trial date set for three former San Antonio police officers charged in the shooting death of a woman inside her apartment.
Melissa Perez was shot and killed during a call answered by then-officers Eleazar Alejandro, Nathaniel Villalobos and Alfred Flores in June last year.
Body cam footage showed part of the incident that now has Flores and Alejandro facing a murder charge. Villalobos was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
It was reported that Perez was having a mental health episode when officers showed up, and her family filed a lawsuit only weeks after the shooting.
KSAT-12 reports jury selection is set for September 20 with testimony scheduled to begin on September 24.
