SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) – A funeral service is scheduled today in San Antonio for a Kendall County Sheriff’s Deputy killed in the line of duty.
Deputy Carlos Ramirez was handling a traffic stop on IH 10 just north of Boerne last week when he was struck and killed by a pickup truck. The investigation continues into the crash.
A funeral service is scheduled this afternoon at Oak Hills Church in San Antonio’s Northwest Side.
A procession will depart Comfort High School at 11:15 this morning and is scheduled to arrive at Oak Hills Church on IH 10 near Summer Oaks at 12:20 this afternoon. A horse-drawn carriage honor march from the parking lot to the entrance of the church will begin at 12:45 and the service will start at 1:30.
Following the service, an outdoor ceremony will include bagpipes, 21 rifle volleys and a flyover.
A motorcade including Kendall County Sheriff’s officers and San Antonio police officers will escort the body of deputy Ramirez to San Antonio International Airport. Interment is scheduled next week at Fort Bliss in El Paso.
Ramirez leaves behind a wife and two children. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the 100 Club of Kendall County.
