SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) – A Northeast Side couple is picking up the pieces after a two-alarm fire heavily damaged their two-story home in the Northern Hills area.

The blaze erupted in the garage and quickly spread to the home on Thistle Down around 5:20 this morning.

“When our first crews got here, they found heavy fire and smoke on the second floor of the home,” said Arrington. “It got into the walls and damaged quite a bit of the house.”

About a hundred firefighters responded to the fire in a neighborhood near Thousand Oaks and Uhr Lane.

“We went to a second alarm about 30 minutes into the fire as a precaution to be able to get additional resources here,” said Arrington.

There was concern that the flames could spread to neighboring homes.

Arrington says investigators are trying to determine what sparked the fire.
