CONVERSE, Tex. (Texas News Radio) — An alligator took a bite out of a sheriff’s vehicle as Louisiana deputies tried moving it to a safer location.

The Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office said it spotted the eight-foot long gator in the middle of a major highway north of Shreveport Monday night.

The office said deputies tried to contain the reptile while they waited for wildlife removal experts to get to the scene, but the gator had no interest in waiting around.

It took a bite out of a patrol car, ripping apart the front bumper.

The gator then escaped.
