Gov. Abbott directs DPS head to shorten lines at driver’s license offices
SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) – Have you been to a driver’s license office lately? How long was your wait?
Gov. Greg Abbott is running out of patience and he wants the Texas Department of Public Safety to shorten those lines now.
“The Texas Legislature heard you loud and clear,” Abbott tweeted in a video. “You are tired of wasting your time waiting in long lines just to get your driver’s license.”
He goes on to say that the Texas Legislature provided more than $200 million to add staff and speed up the process, but he’s not pleased with the results.
“I signed this directive to the head of the Texas Department of Public Safety to take immediate action to shorten lines at driver’s license offices because your time is too precious,” Abbott said in the video.
We know you’re tired of waiting in line to get a driver’s license.
So the Legislature provided the funding needed to add more staff & shorten lines.
