SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — A Guadalupe County judge accused of domestic violence is recusing himself from hearing criminal cases.

On Monday, Judge William Squires the Third sent instructions to the county clerk that all criminal cases be temporarily reassigned to County Court at Law Number 2.

Judge Squires said in a statement that he expects the switch to be temporary.

Squires was arrested earlier this month and charged with injury to a child and endangering a child.

A police report indicates that Squires was drunk when he forced his way into a home on July 8th. According to the report, his wife was holding the couple’s young son and the child was hit when Squires forced the door open.

The child was hurt but the judge was booked at the Hays County Jail.

Squires says the charges against him of domestic abuse are bogus and will be dismissed.
