Gunman Shot by Captives on Southside

An early morning visit to a friend at a Southside home doesn’t go according to plan for a couple of men–who are thankful to be alive.

“While they were inside of the home, the suspect woke up from his sleep, and got in to a verbal altercation with the two victims” SAPD’s Officer Douglas Greene told KTSA News, explaining how things started to go wrong early Wednesday at that home on West Gerald Avenue.

Greene said the homeowner then tied the two men up–and began to physically assault them while holding at least two guns.

At some point though, the attacker decided to put one of the guns down nearby and leave the room.

“At that time, one of the victims was able to free themselves, and gain possession of that weapon. When the suspect returned to the room, the victim then shot the suspect twice” Greene said.

That victim was then able to run away–and was found on Quintana Road after calling police for help. Officers showed up at the home on West Gerald a short time later.

“When the officers arrived… one of the victims ran out of the house,. and physically assaulted the suspect. Those individuals were separated, and the investigation was initiated” Greene said.

The suspect is expected to survive his wounds.
