Harlandale ISD offering students free meals through summer

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — Harlandale ISD students under the age of 18 will be able to get free breakfast and lunch throughout the summer.

The district said its summer nutrition program will operate Monday through Thursday beginning June 10th at 16 district campuses.  Some locations will extend their servicing date to include July 22nd though August 1st with the City of San Antonio Parks and Recreation Department providing those meals.

The district will be closed each Friday from June 14 through August 2nd, as well as July 4th to observe Independence Day.

Students under the age of 18 are eligible for the program and do not need to be enrolled in summer school or show proof of eligibility to receive a free meal.  The district said adults may purchase meals through the program with breakfast costing $2.25 and lunch costing $3.75 per meal.

The program is funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
