Head-on crash kills wrong way driver near downtown

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — The San Antonio Police Department is investigating a fatal head-on collision near downtown early Saturday morning.

Investigators say a man in his early 20s was driving a car in the northbound lanes of I-37 near the Houston Street exit just before 2:30 a.m. The car ended up crashing directly into a large pickup truck, which killed the driver of the car at the scene.

The driver of the pickup was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries, but he is expected to recover.

There is no word on why the driver killed was on the wrong side of the road.
