HEB Christmas Tree arrives in San Antonio Tuesday

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — It’s going to start looking a lot like Christmas is downtown San Antonio.

The HEB Christmas Tree arrives at Travis Park Tuesday morning.

The 40-foot Nordmann Fir was harvested near Salem, Oregon and over the coming days, it will be decorated with thousands of white lights and dozens of handmade ornaments.

The centerpiece of San Antonio’s holiday displays is an annual gift from HEB.

The grocery giant commits more than $250,000 each year the the transportation, decoration and lightning of the tree.

But before the decorating starts, the tree needs to get to Travis Park.

To help with that, city officials say Pecan Street between Navarro and Jefferson will be closed from around 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The tree will be ready for the 40th Annual H-E-B Tree Lighting set for Friday, Nov. 29 at Travis Park.

Festivities will start at 4 p.m., and the tree lights will be illuminated at 6:20 p.m.
