Hurd: Thumbs Up for Ride Share

Congressman Will Hurd thinks Uber and Lyft have been good for San Antonio.

And not just cutting down on drunk driving, he said.

“It’s given a lot of people an opportunity for increased income,” Hurd told KTSA News. “That mean, when you have more income, you’re spending it more, that’s good for our economy.”

It’s also attractive to businesses looking to relocate here.

“They want to make that their future employees, when they move somewhere, have the opportunity to get around town,” he said. “One of the tools people often look at is a ridesharing program, like Uber or Lyft.”

Hurd said it can save money too.

“And that’s one of things we’ve tried to address in Congress with a recent piece of legislation that allow federal employees to get reimbursed for using tools like Uber or AirBNB,” he said.
