Investigators look for cause of fire that destroys abandoned church in San Antonio

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — Arson investigators are looking into the cause of a fire that destroyed an abandoned church on San Antonio’s Southeast side.

Firefighters were called to the 3300 block of Roland Road at around 6 A.M. Friday.

Flames were shooting from the building and it was starting to collapse when they arrived.

Crews worked to keep the flames from spreading to some dry brush behind the building and were able to put the fire out quickly.

The building was heavily damaged and investigators can’t get inside until a crew determines whether or not it’s safe.
