Japanese auto parts supplier to bring 900 jobs to Texas

CIBOLO, Texas (AP) – A Japanese auto parts supplier says it will build a new plant and bring 900 jobs to Cibolo.

Transmission maker Aisin AW said Tuesday it will build a new production site in Cibolo, Texas, about 25 miles outside of San Antonio. The company will invest $400 million toward the future facility focused on the production of automatic transmissions.

Aisin made the announcement together with Japanese automaker Toyota in San Antonio. Toyota has announced it will invest $391 million at its San Antonio truck assembly plant.

The plan was originally announced earlier this year but Governor Greg Abbott brought it up during the Toyota announcement.

“Texas continues to build on its reputation as a manufacturing powerhouse thanks to investments from innovative companies like Toyota and Aisin AW.”

Along with the jobs comes a 36 million dollar annual payroll.

The facility will be built on a 159 acre parcel of land along I-10 at South Santa Clara and Bolton Road.
