SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — Julian Castro says the secret Trump-Taliban meeting is “another bizarre episode.”

Castro appeared on CNN’s State of the Union on Sunday. He was critical of President Trump’s tactics while trying to negotiate a peace deal between the Taliban and leaders in Afghanistan.

The meeting was supposed to take place at Camp David but Trump canceled it.

The President says he changed his mind after the Taliban claimed responsibility for a recent suicide bombing that killed 11 people, including a U.S Service member.

Castro says Trump is ” the worst president when it comes to negotiating we’ve had in a very long time. It’s another bizarre episode. It’s more of his erratic behavior that people are tired of.”

The former Mayor of San Antonio called it “very odd” to invite a terrorist organization like the Taliban to the U.S.

“That’s not in keeping with the way the United States negotiates.”

He added that he would like confirmation that an actual physical trip to Camp David was planned.

Castro is taking his campaign to Houston. He’s holding a rally at Warehouse Live starting at 6 p.m. Monday night.

He’s also one of the 11 candidates taking part in the third Democratic debate of the 2020 campaign.

That debate is scheduled for Thursday night at Texas Southern University.
