Kerrville police charge 10-year-old child with making terroristic threat against school
SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — The Kerrville Police Department is sending out the reminder of how serious threats of violence are taken, regardless of the suspect’s age.
In a Monday release, KPD confirmed the arrest of a 10-year-old child accused of making terroristic threats against Hal Peterson Middle School. After having received word of the threat, officials in the Kerrville Independent School District notified law enforcement, which then began investigating.
While the threat was determined to be not credible, law enforcement is still stressing that threats of violence are felony offenses.
Police are also recommending that when social media posts are found that contain terroristic threats, the recommended move is to go directly to law enforcement, as opposed to spreading the post around via the platform. This tends to minimize unnecessary panic while also dimming the notoriety of the suspect accused of making the threats.
Kerrville ISD and KPD are advising all parents to remind their children about the seriousness of making terroristic threats.
